Resident in veterinary clinical pathology at the University of Glasgow
So lovely to go back to beautiful North Wales where I cut my veterinary teeth in rural, mixed practice. Just a visit this time, although we did come across a poorly lamb

Microscopy Monday: Mesothelium lines body cavities such as the abdomen, including organ surfaces. This piece was picked up when the liver of a dog was sampled. It looks a bit like a sheet of snakeskin. Normal liver cells (hepatocytes) in the last photo for comparison 🧐🔬#VetClinPath

Tumour Thursday: Cell cannibalism in a malignant tumour. Cancer cells will do this to feed on other cells. If they eat immune cells they will also neutralise the immune response

We've just been to Japan! Had heard lots about it from my uncle, cousin, and friend, who each lived there, but it exceeded expectations. So many stunning places and really helpful people

Here's a Curschmann's spiral in a bronchoalveolar (lower airway) wash sample from a cat. It's a cast of a small bronchiole (airway) made from mucus and indicates bronchiolar obstruction. The other cells are alveolar macrophages, increased numbers are a sign of inflammation.

So pleased to get some bright, calm autumn days, was worried it was all going to be wet and windy from the way it started

Ciliated cells with their funky hairdos make me cheerful ☺️ These are ciliated columnar respiratory epithelial cells, the cilia beat constantly to move mucus and trapped bacteria/debris towards the throat.

We had a great lab outing to the
#HighlandWildlifePark
, hearing all about the wildcat breeding for release project. We’re pleased that

can help.
