Kamaji Daily Drawing 6x9 ink and whiteout/paint on bristol The Boiler Man is one of my absolute favorite characters in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away. Such an awesome design and fun character!

Totoro Daily Drawing 6x9 ink and whiteout/paint on bristol Oh, this big lug. I love the feeling of Miyazaki's "cozy adventure" movies. I think I appreciate them much more as I'm getting older, for sure :)

TMNT Daily Drawings 6x9 ink and white paint on bristol Loved working on these. Next up, I'm gonna slap some color on them and consider some prints. I stopped making prints a long while back, but I've had some folks ask here and there lately, so I'm thinking about it again.

Raph Daily Drawing 6x9 ink on bristol Working at 6x9 is way nicer than 4x6. The small size doesn't allow me to play around as much. Also, not sure I actually want to paint these. Maybe digital color and make a print set...after the other two are done, of course ;)

Leo Daily Drawing 6x9 ink on bristol Didn't feel like I did my own thing enough with the first Leo picture, so I sketched up a new one. Used my brush pen this time, and made sure to be a bit looser. Gonna paint this fella up in a little bit.

Twig Daily Drawing 8.5x11 ink and whiteout/paint on bristol I love this comic. I started reading it to my kiddo. It's cool to see her getting into it. She has great questions, too! Stuff I don't know the answer to, but gives little insights to her imagination. Thanks comics!

Getting back to painting so I can knock the dust off my watercolors and gear up to paint some commissions. These were 4x6 Dailies I knocked out today.

Snoopy, Flying Ace Daily Drawing. 4x6 ink on bristol. Kiddo is getting up earlier so we can get her ready for the early school mornings. Means I have less time to draw before she wakes up. Now we're heading out for a little walk in the pre-hellish Texas heat. More to come!

Roger Rabbit Daily Drawing. 4x6 ink on bristol with some whiteout and white paint. This was fun, but I want to do another Roger to play around with the shapes and focus more on him. I have an idea, but we'll see when I get back around to it. Maybe I'll push for that one tmrw.

Animal Daily Drawing. 4x6 ink on bristol. Definitely a lot of fun. One thing I noticed. These are kind of a warmup to get back into inking before working on commissions, but I'm not really inking the same between those tasks. I'm much more loose with these. And I kinda love it.

How to make comics

Dr Teeth Daily Drawing. 4x6 ink on bristol. I opted to do a second picture this morning instead of editing a video. I'm always scared to draw Muppets (and always REALLY want to) because drawing something with such a textural aesthetic is intimidating. But I always have fun :)

Calvin and Hobbes Daily Drawing. 4x6 ink on bristol. Warming up the inking before starting commissions. I really like just playing around with the shapes for Calvin and Hobbes. They're so "simply" iconic, it's fun to see how much you can stray and still get the aesthetic right.

If I lived in a fantastical world, I'd be a brash duelist with really great hair. I'd travel with a flying raccoon familiar and my trusty bard, who would announce my every appearance with a sick banjo riff.

Usagi Yojimbo Daily Drawing. 4x6 ink and dip pen w/ white out on bristol. I usually love drawing Usagi with a smoother line to add to a more cartoon feel. But I love drawing with my dip pen. The scratchiness of the lines is so much fun. Here's a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpIVmPQ874A

Batman. 4x6. Sort of a warmup. Feeling rusty. I like to get my confidence up before working on commissions. Next time, I want to play with the shapes even more. Feeling inspired lately! Getting through commissions feels good. But now it's time to take the kiddo for a walk :)
