so I've been binge rewatching HEAT recently to try to resolve a long-standing, nebulous gripe I have w/it in that there's something vaguely unsatisfying about it as a film (imo). & I've landed on 2 points, one in execution & one in plot logic: [1/5]

sometimes I like to click on a random youtube video that was just posted & has 1 view where the person in the thumbnail looks out of their mind & invariably, yep- they're out of their mind & while it doesn't make me feel good per se it does affirm to me that being nuts is fairly ordinary RN.

rewatching some of the remastered Star Trek TOS w/the updated fx inserts which I think are mostly pretty good, or at least inoffensive. except for the Doomsday Machine, which they really botched. the original was way more effective & scary looking.

a recent rewatch that was better than I remembered was RIDDICK ('13). Twohy in his element: small scale, nice mix of wild cards & escalating stakes, confidently done. rehash of Pitch Black? yeah, but still good & in some ways better. definitely has more soul than Chronicles. #FilmSky 📽️
