Louisiana’s congressional elections have been upended. You’re seeing headlines and you’re hearing rumors. Now it's time for the facts. Following Governor Landry’s executive order suspending the May 16th U.S. House primary, the path forward for District 4 has become a legal and logistical maze.

The other night, I attended Congressman Cleo Fields’ town hall in Shreveport, where he came to engage directly with the community. His message couldn’t have been clearer: vote all the way down the ballot, every race matters, and every vote counts.

I'm not sitting this one out. When those in power try to halt an election midstream, it's a direct attack on our rights. Votes were already cast. Voices were already heard. You don't get to pull the plug because you don't like the outcome.

Get out and vote early. Vote on every section of your ballot. Vote NO on all 5 amendments. Vote because your state and your country depend on it.

Even though the house races “do not count” right now, we are still on the ballot! That means, there is a possibility of these votes retroactively counting (depending on the outcome of various lawsuits). If you see a house race on the ballot, vote for it! Don’t skip it.

There is still some confusion as to whether or not house reps will be on the ballot tomorrow. We will know first thing tomorrow morning for sure. But if you vote tomorrow and there is a spot to vote for a Representative candidate, please do! It’s possible that these votes will count retroactively.

If Governor Landry thought we would just roll over and give up, he hasn’t met this generation of candidates. @rubiagarciaforcongress just filed a lawsuit to save this election, our democracy, and rule of law. Please follow her everywhere and give her your support!

It is now official - the Secretary of State and the governor have declared a state of emergency under 18:401.1(B) to prevent house elections from occurring (even though absentee and mail-in ballots have already been cast).

Some headlines are saying the May primary is canceled or postponed. That’s not true. Lawyers and politicians are in lots of talks about the primaries but as of this moment, nothing has been changed. So make sure to vote Saturday (the first day of early primary voting!)

This is insane. For Landry to even consider changing the primary now - once people have already started voting by mail - is so anti-democratic I don’t even have words for it.

Political survival over people’s rights is unacceptable. Louisiana deserves fair representation. Early voting starts Saturday, be heard.
