Disagree with

in this instance. The comparison with Hungary or Turkey might not be good but the much better comparison is India -- diverse, decentralised, with strong local and regional press traditions in many languages, and still being suffocated by state+billionaire fascists.

This is good: the "Fight Unlawful Conduct and Keep Individuals and Communities Empowered" Act, with a bunch of measures. I'm absolutely among those who believe that blunt, direct and vulgar messaging has long been needed. Really since 2016, when HRC should have straight-up called DJT an asshole.

RIP Frederick Wiseman and thank you for your films. Great filmmaker and a giant of an example of what it means to maintain full control over your creative work. Bought these from his distribution company Zipporah Films that he created to distribute his own documentaries. Love and respect.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paulâan hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.
