I feel like the only person on the planet who's exhausted by all the Game Awards hate. I just want to watch 3 hours of new game announcements and see some great games get recognized. Is that really so wrong?

Me switching mains after that Kirby Air Riders Direct:

I played one game of LEGO Party and now all I can think about is how soon until I get to play it again! It's a ton of fun! My only complaint is that the online multiplayer seems to be restricted to private lobbies only. I couldn't find any option to play with randos.

Well today had a promising start but it's ending in the dumpster. Here's hoping today's #StateOfPlay can help me feel a little better. Honestly, it would be quite a feat to make me feel worse.

I had fallen off of Donkey Kong Bananza after a bunch of other games came out, but now I'm back to playing it again, and... damn. Nintendo is really good at making video games, huh?

I think I'm one of the freaks more excited for the actual racing in Kirby Air Riders than I am for City Trial. When i was a stupid kid, I didn't appreciate how beautiful the tracks in Air Ride were. In Air Riders, that's been turned up to 11.

One of my favorite things to do is to find an OST to a game I know nothing about (except obviously the title and maybe an odd screenshot or comment) and try to guess what the game is like purely through the music. I am very frequently wrong, lol.

God, Shinobi Art of Vengeance is such a good game.

Loving the Sonic Racing Crossworlds Open Network Test! I find putting my boy Omega in a handling-type car consistently puts me on or near the podium. I'm just not a huge fan of most of the handling designs. I'm rocking the motobug one, but i hope there are more in the full game.

I feel really bad for Lost Soul Aside. The game comes out tomorrow, but if i didn't actively seek out information about it, I'd probably have no idea. It also doesn't help that this week is pretty stacked. I hope it does okay.

Random Wednesday Sonic the Hedgehog headcanon: The telenovela "La Ultima Passion" exists in the game universe. Shadow and Omega are huge fans. Rouge keeps trying to reference the show (she doesn't watch it) and those two angrily correct in unison her every time she gets something wrong.

Also I'm very excited for the launch of Lost Soul Aside on Friday! Unfortunately, Shinobi and the Sonic Crossworlds ONT are both going to be competing with it for my attention, but it's a long weekend so I'm going to try to give all three some attention!

If Sega's other revivals meet the standards of the outstanding Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, then I think the Sega of old might be back, baby! Now we just need to see a new Space Channel 5.

Just played the first level of Shinobi: Art of Vengeance (thank you Sega for including early access with the Digital Deluxe Edition) and it is every bit as good as the demo! Sadly, an early work day prevented me from progressing further. Can't wait to get back into it!

Just tried playing a bit of Chibi-Robo and it's unquestionably a great game that I'm mad I slept on when it first came out. However the camera is definitely an obstacle to fun. Especially after coming off of a game like Donkey Kong Bananza.

So I am overwhelmingly happy about all the Kirby Air Riders news we got today, and I am beyond stoked that we're getting lots of new characters and they can each ride on any machine, but I could have done without them all getting a copy ability. That was what made Kirby unique.

Between the excellent Kirby Air Riders direct and the announcement of an open network test for Sonic Racing Crossworlds, today is a great day for mascot racer fans!

I just played the Adventures of Elliot demo and if you've been craving a top-down Zelda-like with gorgeous music and sprite art and music, then this is one you'll want to keep an eye on. It's not 100% my thing, but I certainly enjoyed the time I spent with it.

Finally played the Shinobi: Art of Vengeance demo, and it's always gratifying to learn that the game you've been gassing up in your head since you found out about it lives up to the hype. If all the Sega revivals are as good as this, then we Sega fans are laughing.

Downloaded the Shinobi: Art of Vengeance demo, but sadly didn't get a chance to play it. Hopefully I get more free time tomorrow.

So Fantastic Four takes place on Earth 828, which has a retro sci-fi aesthetic, world peace, flying cars, and when someone who knows what they're talking about asks the world to temporarily do a small inconvenient thing to save the world, they just do it without complaining. Can I move there?

Don't get me wrong, I loved Fantastic Four First Steps, and this fact only enhances my enjoyment: but Reed's final plan to defeat Galacus is essentially a more high-tech version of Wile E. Coyote hanging an anvil over a pile of free bird seed.

Well Nintendo, with Donkey Kong Bananza, you've returned DK to the prominence he deserves to be at, and you've cemented Pauline as one of your most important characters. But aren't you forgetting someone?

I think my favorite thing about Fantastic Four First Steps was that not only did it skip past their origin, but it skipped the annoying "learning to be a team/family" thing the other movies did. This is a movie where the Fantastic Four were already the Fantastic Four in every sense. And I loved it!

I've been playing more Donkey Kong Bananza and dear God. I'm only on the Canyon Layer, but I keep getting sidetracked by how much there is to do in this game. Follow a shiny, go off the beaten path for a second, hell, just dig a random hole in the ground and you'll find something to do. I love it!

Gonna be honest: I was actually considering going back to Twitter for more than just reacting to news. Then I opened a tweet about Superman and had to block 2/3 of the replies. Nevermind. I'm good here.

Finally got Donkey Kong Bananza! I got tired of waiting for Amazon Canada to locate a calendar and discover that the game had been out for days now so I canceled my order and headed out to Walmart (only place in town that sells games) and snagged the last physical copy!

Been listening to the Fantastic Four First Steps score and I just heard the Galactus/Silver Surfer Suite and DAMN! This sounded like something out of a modern Final Fantasy game. Michael Giacchino is still one of my favorite composers of all time.

Not gonna lie, if my copy of Donkey Kong Bananza still doesn't ship by tonight, I might get Shadow Labyrinth to help tide me over. I love me a metroidvania and I feel bad about how overlooked it's been.
