This more than anything is what I love. This is a long-term commitment to keeping a players-first focus for the Spirit.

There's a lot in Jeff's article about the situation with Trin, which is important, but we mustn't forget that Haley vociferously defended Banda and Chilufya after the right came after them last year. Having someone like that leading our team will be so important.

Can confirm, Haley not only played Kan Jam with the Squadron, she won our pregame mini tournament at least once!

The NWSL final between the Spirit and Gotham on CBS averaged 1.184 million viewers, making it the first game over the million mark and the most watched game in league history. Up 22 percent from last year’s final, which averaged 967,900. That’s a solid jump.

The NWSL Championship has never been bigger. It’s hard to listen to the league argue about the sustainability of a salary cap when there’s a championship barge in the San Francisco Bay.

Ultimately, Spirit have the same problem as last year. They need to figure out how to score in these kind of games. You can make up for a mistake if you can score. You can't otherwise.

I love this team. They’ve done so much for the city. To lose two years in a row is demoralizing. They’ll be back at some point.

I love our team and I’m so proud of them for this whole season. They fought through so much adversity, and I hate that the story is going to be 8th place winning when it should be a team going through all the injuries that Spirit did getting second.

Adrian made a critical mistake at a crucial time but he’s a hell of a coach and one I’m proud to have as our leader. He’ll bounce back and the team will bounce back.
