Expect my revisit of 3D World to be even more glowing. Both are among my all-time faves, but while 3D Land is exactly how I remember it, 3D World is not (in a good way). The real test will be my reevaluation of Bowser's Fury, which I wasn't as over the moon about as most people.

Scaling in RPGs is so funny sometimes. Entered a new area in Ni no Kuni earlier and was getting the snot kicked out of me. Had to get carried out of every battle on a stretcher. Then I gained just two levels and all of a sudden the enemies were doing like no damage to me. What a silly numbers game.

The Last Airbender Some people will say Ace Attorney or Pokemon or whatever, but there's a stark difference between "sometimes the new stuff sucks" and "every single time they touch this series it gives me such intense secondhand embarrassment that I never want to engage with it again."

Since finishing Mario Galaxy 2, I've moved on to Super Mario 3D Land, and while I get the complaints about how easy it is, this game is like a warm, comforting bowl of soup. It's so light and breezy. No level takes more than two or three minutes. It's just the perfect pick-up-and-play Mario game.

I do think the green stars are an improvement over Galaxy 1 asking you to replay the entire game again (even if they're still kind of lame), and weirdly enough, I think this game's Bowser/Bowser Jr. levels blow the first Galaxy's out of the water. But still, it just doesn't have the same magic.

Oh, that's an easy one. Used to work with a QA in games loc who just could not stop acting like an editor. They would ask for character notes and then dream up versions of the characters totally separate from what was actually in the game and make the most unnecessary characterization suggestions.

Deltarune Chapter 5 has totally cooked my brain because I'm already back to doing Kefka Ultimate in XIV and going "Ohhh, Kris... That horrible wipe, Kris..." after every black hole wipe.

This might sound like a weird thing to compliment, but I'm jumping back into Kiseki with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, and this remake might have one of the best minimaps I've ever seen in a video game? Like, oh my god. I wish every RPG had a minimap this clean and feature-dense.

On that note, if I had to rank the chapters of Deltarune thus far, I think my ranking would go a little something like... 4 > 5 > 2 > 3 >>> 1 And just to be clear I still love Chapter 1, but the jump in scope and quality from 1 to the entire rest of the game is kind of bananas.

Bruh, I played Deltarune for like 8 hours today how am I still not through this chapter. 😭 Alas, I will have to save the rest for tomorrow. But yeah, Chapter 5 is absolute peak. Depending on how it ends, I'm thinking it might end up being... my second favorite chapter so far?
