Recently found out I've been doing work for free over the summer (we're on 10-month contracts) while colleagues in other divisions get paid for doing that same work

Public universities, especially in non-"revenue producing" departments, are simultaneously being starved and worked to death. The UMass history department replaces maybe 1/2 the people who retire or leave, while the work load increases for those who remain.

The PMC strategy to address inequality is to diversify the composition of the student body at elite institutions. What about just funding public higher education?
