I had a whole thing written up about the Collective Shout thing but TL;DR people like this have been around since forever and that they're only now gaining global influence is weird and frankly alarming. Platforms have their hands tied because the alternative is to not be able to do business.

I think this is interesting for a different reason: A lot of the same people who are pushing what we call AI are the people who were big on NFTs and crypto. I think there's a difference in how media influences people's perceptions more than we like to think. But there is yet another angle to it.

AI music is... A thing. It's scary how quickly it went from not really being a thing to being subjectively a lot more sophisticated than image generation. As with most generative AI, it's fun to play with but I deeply fear the commercial applications - and the owners of the training data.

People ask why I’m so into retro stuff. It might partly be because I grew up with an also-ran console that makes me interested in the stuff I’ve missed out on and never heard of. Fan translations in the 2000s stoked that fire - A lot of what makes up modern gaming and tech is lost in obscurity!
