Open Source observability platform |
https://github.com/SigNoz/signoz
OpenTelemetry can be complex to set up, with a steep learning curve and heavy configuration especially in real-world environments. Weβve been working on simplifying that through our latest videos on SigNoz Collection Agents (Docker + Kubernetes).

Weβre kicking off the SigNoz Collection Agents series π If youβve worked with OpenTelemetry, you know how fast collector configs get messyespecially across Docker, Kubernetes, VMs. We break down this complexity using a real e-commerce setup.

CloudWatch charges you $0.50/GB to ingest logs, $0.03/GB/month to store them, and $0.005/GB every time you search them. During an incident, your query volume spikes and so does your bill.

We kept seeing the same pattern with users debugging traces in SigNoz. They'd find a span that took 2 seconds, then open another tab to query percentiles and figure out if that duration is actually slow or just normal for that operation. So we added the percentile inline.

Previously, our self-hosted instances relied on SQLite for metadata storage, which isn't suitable for production or high-availability (HA) setups. This was a major limitation for users running SigNoz at scale.

Debugging distributed systems often involves manually correlating spans across multiple services, which is tedious and error-prone. Trying to find a database error that originated from a specific frontend request is a common pain point.

Our previous query builder was a UI wrapper around SQL that lacked support for complex boolean logic. For any query needing an OR condition, users had to drop down to raw ClickHouse SQL. Query Builder v5 is a complete architectural overhaul to fix this

Finance: "Observability bill went from $2K to $23K. What changed?" DevOps: "More monitoring..." Finance: "Which services cost the most?" DevOps: "I'd have to ask the vendor." Most tools treat usage data like state secrets. You get a bill and good luck figuring out why.
