Birds, Moths, Nature etc.
At least 3 Wheatears at Barkston Heath this afternoon. One male looking more like autumn plumage, probably a late developer. Swallows moving north.

Good to see some more movement on garden bird feeding but ultimately we need a rethink, not just because of disease but because making common birds commoner can make rare ones rarer

Difficult viewing through the security fencing and thick vegetation down at the old sewage works but a couple of bright yellow birdies were in there. The Yellow Wagtails have arrived.

1/ Forget tales of escapees from the film set of The African Queen. Ignore rumours of Jimi Hendrixโs supposed liberation of a pair on Carnaby Street. Newly declassified documents from the Ministry Of Defence reveal how Ring-necked Parakeets colonised the UK through Operation Norwegian Blue! ๐ฎ ๐ชถ

Barkstone aerodrome. Tried for Wheatears at the local hot-spot but still a bit early. Did have a Merlin and Marsh Harrier, good birds for the site; Ravens, Kites, Buzzards, 2 Grey Partridge, 2 Curlew.

Had a great colour-ringed Oystercatcher sighting result yesterday. It was ringed in Devon, 2019 as an 8 yr old bird. Resighted some 50 times over the next 6 and a half years, always within 1km....until yesterday!
