#AlphabetChallenge #WeekTforTime Some old clocks live in downtown San Antonio. This 1920s clock is at the Municipal Plaza Building, Main & Commerce. It's not the Rand Building clock at Houston & Main, disappeared for decades but back now. It's not "the" clock, at Houston & N. St. Mary's since 1878.

Timestamp within the May 2019 digital photo says it was taken at 4:23 pm; time is often wrong in my cameras.

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekTforTime When clocks break around here they sometimes become art projects. A clock broke. I liked its green frame & decided to keep it around. Early & late phases of modifying it by adding other broken or useless things, plus paint: on the back, I wrote "eclipse".

#ColoraDay #RedWed Stairs & elevator are divided by this narrow wall. In case of fire, pull the alarm and go down the stairs. AREA OF REFUGE sounds pleasant. I've never a sign like that elsewhere. Maybe the stairwell is super-strong, always safe. Maybe the entire building is a safe hiding place.

#AnimalArtTuesday Happening now, because I looked away briefly: Cardinals have colonized my outdoor fan. Same time last year in the same spot: Multiple avian attempts to establish a colony failed but left behind some interesting unfinished artifacts. The fan is unplugged now, for the duration.

Once I watched an anole eat a bumblebee. Jumped and grabbed the bee's head as the bee left a flower, a verbena that time, then kept slowly swallowing like a snake with a rat. Ever since, when a lizard guards a flower, I think about dinosaurs.

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekRForReflections Solar panels collect light energy. They don't collect all of it, though, since looking at a solar panel is like looking into a mirror, not a black hole. The reflection here is of a liveoak tree. Photo from March 2016; 10 years later, solar panels still work.

Pandas are shy, so I was surprised to find this little panda peeking from behind the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle logo on a Panda Express napkin.

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekRForReflections In my office: look up to see the lights in the ceiling fan, or look down to see the lights reflected in multiple shiny objects. The reflected lights are smaller than the real ones; the small reflected lights appear many times, so maybe they add up to be more?

Every moment differs from the moments before and after it, though the differences can be hard to see. Earth spins. Daylilies can show yesterday, today, tomorrow, all at once.

The problem with washing things is that it tends to make them shiny. Shiny things make reflections visible. Many creatures are fascinated by their own reflections. When a creature is fascinated by its own reflection, it's difficult to make it move so I can go get dinner.

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekQforQueens Queen Creek is a town in Arizona. The town is named for the creek which is named for the Silver Queen Mine. The mine is closed. The creek is sometimes dry, sometimes wet, anyway shouldn't be messed with. The town doesn't seem to object to visitors.

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekPforPurple This tiny wild iris is Herbertia, "prairie nymph". One of the cool things about the flower's structure is the repeating 3-part pattern. Sometimes I wonder whether plants have favorite numbers. It's flowering today, which means it won't be flowering tomorrow.

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekPforPurple Two summers ago, a tiny potted rosebush with abundant purple flowers was a kind "Get Well Soon" gift. The plant didn't last long but its little roses have looked pretty good in this jar for almost 2 years now. I'm fine, too. The gift worked its magic.
