It's interesting the small issues you find while testing your game with different languages. The tooltips text was fitting fine in English but in some languages such as Japanese it was extending outside of the boxes. Now tooltips account for varying texts. ✅ #gamedev #indiedev #solodev #indiegame

It was clear early on from having non-gamer family members try out an early build of Ascending Realms that knowing when to left or right click isn't particularly intuitive. Thus the helper mode was born (toggleable in settings) much like how #Mega-Lo-Mania implemented it. #solodev #indiedev

CPU bottleneck solved... Somewhere at some point I made a typo. Pulling in my data 300 times a second, and with 200 units at once running around the 60,000 calls per second were really testing the i9 processor (it held strong at 56 fps / 200 tbf) 🔥 #indiedev #gamedev

#RefactorFriday comes around quick. What part of your game or system are you refactoring today? For me, some minor UI reworks.

It's interesting how simple some of the performance improvements for a video game can be. When creating a new unit the fps was spiking. It ended up being the function for finding the lowest non-transparent pixel to anchor the shadow to. The solution; search only the bottom 20% of the image. No lag.

Localisation for Ascending Realms is important to me. I do apologise in advance as we know existing automatic translation platforms are not perfect, so please reach out if anything is incorrect. The game will support 27 languages shortly after the demo launch.
