Discovering a specimen of Witch's Butter (Tremella mesenterica) on my first photography hike of 2026 was a highlight of my New Year's Day. These jelly fungi come to life in the rain. When dry, they shrivel up into a hard, thin crust that makes them quite inconspicuous.
