Check out this beautiful brooch found in Birka, Sweden. Grimfrost made a reproduction for the exhibition in their museum.

This small piece of a runestone measures about 30 x 35 cm (12” x 14”). It is limestone, very rare when it comes to runestones in the region of Uppland. Only one runestone of limestone has been found in Uppland previously. This has lead archaeologists to believe that it's a part of the other find.

An amazing reconstruction of a Viking Age house at the village of Stavgard in Gotland, Sweden.

A 5000 year old megalith grave - people have later called these (there are several) the ”oven of the giantess”. The area where they are located was in use as a ritualistic site for over 4000 years, which is revealed by the graves there hailing from different periods.

A famous picture stone believed to depict Odin returning home to Valhalla on his 8-legged steed Sleipnir. A Valkyrie greets him with a horn. The stone is on display at the Swedish History Museum.

The Battle of Clontarf raged near Dublin on April 23rd in 1014. Nearly 10 000 casualties littered the battlefield when the day came to an end. The battle is mentioned in several contemporary sources where it is described as remarkably loud and bloody. Read more here:

Throwback to when Clive Standen (Rollo in Vikings) came to hang out with Grimfrost. He still had the rowing in him.

On April 11 882, Vikings defeated a Frankish army in Remich, Luxembourg. They were led by Guðfrið – a veteran of the Great Heathen Army pillaging the English isles. But this wasn't the first time Guðfrið and his men put Northwestern Europe under their axes.

It could've been around this time of the year, in 1025 AD, that Danish and Swedish Viking forces clashed at Helgeå, Sweden. Knut, the king of Denmark and England, survived the battle and later also seized the throne of Norway, ruling the North Sea Empire until his death in 1035.

During an archaeological dig outside Stockholm, Sweden, an incredible silver treasure was uncovered a couple years ago. In a ceramic pot dug into the ground were neck rings, arm rings and coins.

On this day, March 28 845, Ragnar's fleet of 120 Viking ships carrying thousands of men, reached Paris after having defeated the French army trying to stop them along the river Seine. The Vikings withdrew when they had been paid a huge ransom of 2570 kilograms (5665 lbs) of silver and gold.

Fancy some bling? How about this absolutely massive neck ring found on Öland in Sweden. Dated to the 400s it weighs 1.5 pounds (700 g) and is made from solid, pure gold. It is considered one of the most advanced pieces in terms of craftmanship. It can be seen in the Swedish History Museum.

Short clip of the amazing wagon from the Oseberg ship burial dated to the 800s. Two women were buried in the ship, one younger and one old. Besides the wagon, the grave goods contained 2 oxen, 14 horses, 4 dogs, 4 sleds, 3 beds, kitchen wares and a large amount of textiles.

This absolutely amazing chest and tools belonged to a Viking Age craftsman who lived more than 1000 years ago. It was found in a bog in the year 1936 in Mästermyr here in Sweden. The chest is made from oak and measures 90 x 25 cm (35" x 10") and is 20 cm (8") high.

Viking Workout.

What did Viking Age haircuts look like? The haircut seen in this picture shows one of the haircuts that were most likely used by Vikings. It appears in the Bayeux tapestry depicting military men in 1066. It is also seen in the 9th century carvings from the Oseberg ship burial.

Throwback to when Hegg of Grimfrost visited Anundshög, an amazing site here in Sweden with the biggest gravemound in Scandinavia.

Ship setting in Gotland, Sweden that measures 18x5 meters (54x15 feet). The legend says that it is the grave of Tjelvar - the first man to arrive to the island of Gotland during the Bronze Age, making it approx. 3000 years old. Burned bones were found in it, so there may be truth to the it.
