All set for Christmas fair.

Primary 4 had a great scooter session today! We had so much fun and have learnt lots!

Today P1s did their solo talks on something that is important to them. For the last couple of weeks we have been preparing for this. They were all absolutely amazing. They spoke with confidence, listened to each other and asked great questions!

Today, P1s learned about money. We talked about different coins up to £2 and listened to song about them. Then, we played a game to identify some coins! Also, we enjoyed some stations to learn more about coins.

Exploring probability in P5 maths today with a dice roll investigation activity. We had to make predictions and create a tally chart. We had such fun. Ask us what we learned through our dice game.

We celebrated World Children’s Day today by wearing blue and launching our OUTRIGHT campaign. The Rights Respecting steering group led an introduction to the campaign. This was followed up with joining a live lesson from UNICEF. We look forward to learning more as we embark on this journey!

P3 loved making reading dens and comfy spaces to drop everything and read (DEAR). Continuing with ways to celebrate Scottish Book week!

Primary 6 had a brilliant scooter session with Shani from I Bike Project today. Lots of fun, safety tips and teamwork. We’re looking forward to session 2 next week 🤩

P3 started their Book Week Scotland celebrations this morning with a visit to the library. They enjoyed choosing different books to read, listening to stories and completing quizzes linked to Book Week.

P5 kicked off Scottish Book work with an author visit. She spoke about the process of writing and publishing a book. She answered lots of our questions about how she comes up with her ideas, characters and settings. This will help us with our narrative focus in our writing lessons!

P5 PE today, practising controlling the ball and passing in hockey.

P1 enjoyed their first visit to the library! We enjoyed listening to stories and picking out our books. After that, we read them in class. #BookWeek2025

Huge well done to this P6 girl for her fabulous poster about Anne Frank. We have been talking about young people who experienced adversity and challenge in their lives and inspired future generations. Amazing work!

P3’s outdoor learning session with Rob at Kids Gone Wild was amazing! We have had such fun exploring the wet, muddy forest! Did we moan about being out in those weather conditions?? Not once!! We have climbed trees, made a ‘camp fire’, played in a den and risk assessed this all by ourselves!

Primary 4 STEM challenge. P4 were challenged to build an earthquake safe tower using spaghetti and marshmallows. We then tested them by putting them on a wobbly surface and shaking! #STEM

P1 had lots of fun at their second I Bike session today. We worked on improving our balance, awareness of our space and working in a team through fun games!

A huge thank you to our P5 children for leading Mass for the parish today. You all did so well and were a credit to the school and your families. Thanks to all the parishioners and P5 family members who were able to join us this morning.

P1 had lots of fun at the I Bike session! We were developing our balance, team work and speed skills. We enjoyed being on a scooter and playing games. 🛴

P3 were working on their core stability and balance as part of their gymnastics on Monday. They tried so hard when working in co-operation and competition with each other.

Primary 1 have been learning about letter f and b. We enjoyed play based activities including: fishing magnetic letters, fishing in the water, letter formation and designing butterflies.

Huge congratulations to the newest member of Team St John’s, our fabulous PSW Ms Devine. She was awarded West Lothian College’s Student of the Year for her hard work and dedication whilst studying for her qualification in Childhood Practice. We are so proud! 🤩

P3 had a fun morning for Halloween, even with Mrs Trunchbull as their teacher! 🤣 Some Halloween games, Halloween brain breaks and Halloween stories. Fabulous outfits P3. Have a safe, fun time trick or treating!

Yesterday, P1 had lots of fun at their Kids Gone Wild session. We enjoyed exploring the forest, games, climbing trees and playing with our friends. 🌳🍁

A huge thank you to our fantastic catering staff for their Halloween raffle. The money raised was used to put on a Halloween breakfast banquet this morning with the extras going round the classes. Here are some pics, including the 3 lucky raffle winners 🤩👻🎃

Halloween spooky creations in P2 this afternoon

Primary 4 have been applying their skills in measure to hairdressing! We had some very fussy clients who wanted specific lengths off each strand of hair. We had to use our skills in measure using cm and mm to cut their hair. #maths #learningthroughplay

Do you wanna build a snowman? Primary 4 took part in a STEM challenge to make snow using baking soda and shaving foam! We then made our own snowmen!

P5 STEM challenge with spaghetti and marshmallows to celebrate Space Week. We had to work collaboratively, use problem solving skills and change our rocket designs numerous times! A lot of patience was also required.

P3 worked hard on their STEM challenge to create their own ‘space lander’ as part of World Space Week.

Primary 3 enjoyed learning about the properties of 2D shapes and shapes that have right angles. We went on a shape hunt in the classroom and used paper to help us identify right angles. We also explored making shapes using the geoboards.

P3 have been using tens frames to add and subtract single and double digit numbers.

P5 learning how to use a French dictionary today. We are learning what the different abbreviations stand for. Ask us what we found out!

Well done to this P1 who is working hard to achieve his black belt in martials arts! He brought in his belt to share his achievements with us. 🥋

On Friday, P1 celebrated European Languages Day 🇪🇺 We listened to a song about all European countries, learned the importance of learning another language and talked about people in our class who speak European languages. Then we made posters to share our learning.
