Used `rv` on my elementaryOS install too, just as fast / good

Hello world from elementaryOS :) giving this a go for a while on my paperweight of a linux laptop. I love the ascetic of the UI for it though!

Just updated my #Hanami app to 2.3, and thanks to @afomera.dev’s resource routes my route.rb looks so much cleaner now. A really delightful feature!

Building a little something to help me get a handle on my domain situation. I've uncovered a problem with them. I have too many.

~4 hours to code this app up + get a release mechanism in place with update pushing / fetching and the first release published on the internet. Need to code up the landing page for the app + download link... but if anyone wants to kick the tires on v0.1 let me know!

Took this moment with my iMac being down to instead use `rv` by @indirect.io and team. Holy wow that thing _flies_.

Finally got my iMac set back up only to find my dev env is completely foobar'd on this computer. Welp cool I guess?

I guess now 26.1 is out for iOS I'll finally upgrade from iOS 18... wish me luck?

so my sister is goin through it and is moving in with me (yay) but we’ve been working all day and likely all night and we ordered pizza but it’s the worst night of the year for that. there’s 60+ people in the line for carryout. WILD. (not yay)

Friendly reminder: If the engineers at your company don't have access to the right keys / logs / observation tools, you can't blame them when the app is slow or down, when it takes a long time to get back to normal operation.

Honestly some of the folks in the Rails / Ruby community make me very sad. I just want to be me, in a safe community where people accept people for who they are. That is too much to ask for some in the community, who are constantly promoted despite their beliefs that I shouldn't exist.

I actually am enjoying @hanamirb.org quite a lot to rebuild my forked.sh project in. It's taken time to get used to it, but I think the end result is going to be very nice!

good progress today, got authentication and some css stuff setup and mostly figured out. working through some other core setup pieces. good times! it was a good decision to rewrite it

I've decided that I'm going to rebuild @forked.sh into Hanami. Naturally things won't be easy, but it should provide a great learning ground for where Hanami falters and where improvements are needed. Building a _real_ app is the best way to find the pain points and fix them.

it still wasn't Ruby Central's to give away ownership of. it was the maintainers to give away. Ruby Central could've forked it and continue on their own path and been fine. Woulda taken 30 seconds in GitHub and saved y'all so much time.

super excited the `hanami run` command I worked on recently made it in for the 2.3 series!! Good stuff in this release!

the perpetual battle of what do I do with all my projects currently in Rails now that I'm writing Hanami apps. Looking at forked.sh for example 😅 I had pretty ambitious plans of building a CLI, mobile apps and the platform itself. Mostly powered by Rails before...

@hanamirb.org provides the ability to reuse param validations/definitions across actions. In each action class you can define `params` blocks, but you can also make those into reusable classes that can be shared (and tested!) if you have a common set of params that need to be used! #HanamiTips

some news: i’ve joined the Hanami Maintainers team, and i’m spending my free time efforts towards making Hanami better. i am still very early in my usage of Hanami, but i’m excited for the future and to help make things better for the ruby community as i use it more and contribute back.

a couple days ago the way Hanami, Dry and Rom all work together clicked for my little ruby brain. took a while to get there but it’s really exciting! easy to compose them on their own too, but together it’s a treat to work with.

Starting a new series called: #HanamiTips You can implement your own logging behavior for @hanamirb.org by overriding the config.logger.logger_constructor in your app.rb file. This one records the logs to stdout AND a log file and rotates logs daily or at 1mb in size.

Might give elementary OS (elementary.io) on my dusty Framework laptop. Def not using the distro that uses the transphobic window manager.

drew some circles tonight for a thing I'm doing. got my first Hanami app in production too technically! from `hanami new` to production in a little under 4 hours of work, where one of those I fought with tailwind and the other I took a bath.

At some point I'm going to get back to RubyEnv.app, make it work for Hanami / non-rails apps and likely look at using the rv tool. Sub 10 second installs for ruby environments sound sick. Imagine this: buy new Mac; open it; download RubyEnv, add environment with versions and then off you go!

I had such a great time at Rocky Mountain Ruby conf this week. One of my favorite conferences in general. I also am super tired from two days of fun so there's that too!
