I’m months and months late, but I finally read Perihelion. I liked it! Have you read it? It allowed me a MSIV healing.

What was the first ship you spiraled over? If I’m being really honest? Maybe this. I spiraled over ships really early, and I would play Robin and Marian a lot.

Day 22: fav revival episode I don’t HATE the revival, and there are moments I love. But the ep I really lost myself in from beginning to end was Rm9sbG93ZXJz. Fun plot, and it felt like the show was engaging more meaningfully with contemporary issues (and contemporary TV storytelling). #xfiles25days

Day 21: fav Mulder scene Near impossible for me. But I am going to choose his crying breakdown in One Breath, because it shows so much about him: his desperate early dependence on Scully, his intense survivor guilt, his anguish over making right choices. #xfiles25days

Day 15: fav season 7 ep So we meet again, Amor Fati my beloved. I have definite issues with this ep—but also am low key obsessed with it, so what can you do? Have a Jesus-themed dream sequence and chill with your touchstone, I guess. #xfiles25days

Day 14: fav MOTW This is impossible; how could I ever do this?!? I will do top 5 in no particular order: Bad Blood, How the Ghosts Stole Christmas, Milagro, Quagmire, Beyond the Sea. #xfiles25days

Day 13: s6 ep In a season I adore, Field Trip’s my favorite. One of the show’s amazing penultimate partnership episodes (eps about altered perception and the Mulder-Scully dynamic that air right before the season finales s3-6), this MOTW is just about Them in the best way.

Day 12: fav character other than Mulder / Scully Krycek. He’s hot af, plus he’s always had an interesting Vampire Lestat-style survivor morality and fluid sexuality. I was always disappointed we never learned his back story. (I once wrote Krycek/Marita, Krycek pov, back in the day!) #xfiles25days

Day 11: fav Skinner scene Surprisingly difficult for me to narrow down—I didn’t know I was such an opinionated Skinner scene fan lol. I’m choosing the tense Scully-Skinner-Mulder standoff at the beginning of Paper Clip because I honestly just love it. #xfiles25days

Day 10: fav Season 5 ep I figured Bad Blood would get a lot of deserved love, so I went for a possibly(?) more niche choice: Pine Bluff Variant. Intrigue, partner trust angst, hurt/comfort. And it gives me the chance to link to my PBV fic recs. www.tumblr.com/cecilysass/7... #xfiles25days

Day 9: fav Reyes scene I admit this is hard; I never warmed up to many episodes where she was an important character. But she was badass trying to protect Scully when she was in labor in Existence, and a good person to be there if Mulder wasn’t. Better than Skinner or Frohike lol. #xfiles25days

Day 8: Season 4 ep This kills me. Paper Hearts and Never Again tie. PH is so well-written, well-acted: such a brutal take on the Samantha story (one I kinda think should’ve been the story’s real end). NA is a crucial Scully character ep, a crucial MSR ep. (But DEMONS! my beloved!) #xfiles25days

Day 7: fav Doggett scene I’m going to indulge my love for the super angsty scene in This Is Not Happening. As he is walking towards her, Doggett has a super haunted, miserable look on his face … because of course he KNOWS. Then when he holds her back? omg #xfiles25days

Day 6: msr moment I thought about some surprising ones (Scully sad in the car in The End, “only what I see in your face” in DeadAlive). But I gotta go with “you were my constant, my touchstone” because it IS the relationship. (2nd: “wouldn’t put myself on the line for anybody but you”) #xfiles25days

Day 5: season 3 ep I can’t decide, so it’s a tie: Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose and Pusher. It depends whether I want brilliant wit / philosophical themes or taut thriller/ MSR subtext, and I really want both. They’re both brilliant. (shhhh don’t mention Quagmire.) #25daysofxfiles

Day 4: Favorite Mulder outfit Mulder’s Gethsemane suffering outfit, a V-neck oatmeal sweater. Color suggests sackcloth / hair shirt, emphasizing his guilt and self-recrimination, plus that pop of ominous black tee underneath. And it’s all giving super cuddly sad boy, too. #xfiles25days

Day 3: Little Green Men This episode has really become a favorite over the years. (Has fic like Universal Invariants played a role in this? Yes. Yes, it has.) But also just such an important episode for establishing how tight their early partnership was, even pre-abduction.

Day 2: Favorite Scully Outfit That blood red suit with the lapels as black as impending death she wears in the beginning of Never Again. She looks glamorous as hell, all 1940s movie star, giving Mulder those withering looks with her matching red lipstick and rose petal.

Oh no look what I am about to do. It’s already impossible, because I love season 1. Okay: Ice.
