I did nothing useful or important all day, and it was great! Slept in, drank tea, took a shower at 2pm, put on a robe, watched baseball and Nascar, read, played with yarn and garden designs (rhodies are not sprouting so we must have cut them back too far), made scrambled eggs for dinner. Delightful!

Good day for the 6 baseball teams I follow - 5 of them won their games today, 1 was postponed. Doesn't happen that often!

Quiet evening, most likely. SO has retired to his suite with miserable allergies. All 3 cats are with him because he's the giver of treats; they'll hang out, hoping to get more goodies. I'm watching baseball and playing with yarn - found some I'd thought was lost and am inspired!

Despite sore knees and allergies it was a pretty good day. Got a pedi and my toenails are Big Apple Red again. Hours with knitting group were amazing - laughed, joked, teased, ate cookies and drank tea, watched birds and squirrels *and even knitted some*!

Going to bed, perchance to sleep. I hope I hurt less tomorrow - today I really needed a SalonPas bodysuit.

Couple of strange weeks. - Weather can't decide if it's winter or spring and we still have at least a couple of below freezing nights coming. - I can't decide what knitting project to start; I have analysis paralysis! - Both knees have been very achy for some reason, which makes doing things hard.

I have about 1600 to 1800 yards of Malabrigo Rios Arco Iris, worsted weight. I want to knit a sweater, but it needs to be rather plainer than the cabled designs I'd planned on knitting next but it can't be so plain that I'm bored to tears. Suggestions? 🧶

It's rained all day - cold, Grau, dreary heavy rain. Now we have snow or wintry mix predicted for a couple of hours. So glad I didn't/never will plant my garden until Mother's Day, at the earliest. More likely, Memorial Day weekend.

SO had a Dr appt this morning; so frustrated - he is like a sullen teenager sometimes! Dr wants to put him on a new-to-him (old and safe) med to slow/stop kidney failure caused by his taking double doses of a diabetes med. SO says he doesn't want to take more meds, Dr reasons with him. No dice...

One more busy day this week and then the weekend - I didn't think weekends would still be the goal after I retired! It's been good - but there's been at least one appointment or activity every day; a couple of quiet days will be welcome.

Favorite cable knit - Cables After Whiskey by Lucy Neatby. I will be making another because this yarn pills like made - it's now relegated to wearing around the house only! #ShowMeYourKnits

Fulltime housekeeper/cook/laundry person because I am not good at doing that stuff. I know how to do it, I can do it acceptably well but I absolutely resent that I have to do it.

Just watched Nova: Return To The Moon about the just completed Artemis II / Integrity mission. Made me tear up all over again when contact was reestablished after re-entry. What an amazing human accomplishment.

Noticed these little star-shaped flowers right on schedule this morning; never can remember what they're called! They spread like crazy in the grass and our contactor calls them weeds. They are usually the first flowers of spring, right after the snow melts.

Now that snow has melted and it's 4 to 6 weeks from planting outdoors I was seriously perusing garden catalogs. The Burpee catalog this year is disappointing - much smaller (50 pages) - and many fewer plants of each type. Just me? I missed ordering for a couple of years, but wow - what a shock!

Another week of home maintenance and chores begins. First up, water heater maintenance - fuel oil burning water heaters are expensive to replace and require annual checks. Then the propane "hearth" stove heater gets its annual check and tune up. Housekeepers should be here too, at some point.

So I bought a 3rd skein of Paton's Kroy sock yarn because I knew I'd run out before the toe was finished - probably need less than 10 feet total - and I didn't want to make the leg of foot shorter. So why can't I find the 3rd skein? So annoyed right now - less than 200 stitches to go!

I so miss the great coverage Walter Cronkite provided for the previous NASA moon flights. Today's news critters talk too much - I'd much rather listen to Mission Control. Still, it's as exciting as it was when I was a teen.

It is possible that last night was the final below freezing night of the season! Saturday night might dip that low, but it's currently predicted to hover at 33°F. My fingers are crossed.

First world stuff: housekeeper has requested changing us to every other Monday (instead of Friday) and I'm ok with that. Her relationship with time on my planet is not likely to improve but it will, I hope, annoy me less on Monday. Plus that leaves Friday for other appointments if needed.

Met with SOs renal specialist and scheduled his "procedure" for mid-May. Plan is for a less invasive outpatient procedure. Stones are large, not as large as the NP stated, but they need to go. Amazing what an accidental x-ray view can necessitate.

Must be my lucky day: I cut open an avocado to add to a kale salad, and it was absolutely perfectly ripe - lovely, soft, and green. Cannot remember the last time that happened.

Not a huge win in the current grand scheme of things, but I am thrilled that we have replaced the 2 downstairs toilets with "comfort height" toilets with soft close lids! The old ones were so hard to manage after surgery and pneumonia- these are so civilized. Plus they look so sleek.

Socks - always have several going, at least 1 in my bag at all times. I tend to finish several first socks before going back to knot the 2nd sock - no second sock syndrome! Just a few of the 50+ pairs in my sock drawer at the moment. #ShowMeYourKnits

Found out today that 2 former coworkers - different tech companies in Silicon Valley - have been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in the past week. I'm very sad - no one should have to face that.

Ok, who annoyed the weather g-ds? Couple of inches so far, expected to continue for another r or 5 hours.

Instacart order delivered, unpacked, and put away. A few things were not available which is generally expected as I tend to push the envelope on weird stuff to order. Cat treats, milk, bagels, fresh spinach, eggs, and cheese all delivered.

Spent the day mostly being lazy and watching baseball. SO requested meatloaf for dinner - yeah, I don't get it - so that's what I made. Watched The Sandlot - cute feel good baseball movie - and did the Instacart and Misfits Market orders, so the day wasn't totally wasted. Needed the down time.

Came upstairs and heard a high-pitched whine coming from my office. Finally determined it was the UPS (battery is going?) and unplugged it, which also unplugged the wifi modem. SO fixed that (bad knees, so I can crawl under the desk), plugged in the UPS and 5 minutes later it started screaming...

Pouring rain today, expected to continue a few more hours. Having an incredibly slow start - just finished my first cuppa (coffee today) and still need to shower - or not. Might move furniture first, then shower. Whatever. Had a lovely happy hours call last night/this morning - finished at 4 am!

Watching the Giants - Mets game, and was just hit by a huge wave of nostalgia. The City is gorgeous tonight, the stadium looks great, the Bay is stunning. Not sorry we moved to NH, but what I wouldn't give to be able to teleport back sometimes.

Had a couple of lovely spring like days, and then today was cold, windy, and rainy. Then, while at knitting group, we heard sleet on the skylights and a few minutes later we saw the biggest fat fluffy snowflakes ever! Raining again, possibly all night, before it's back to warmer days.

Based on what I've read and heard in recent weeks, it seems likely that there can be food - especially fruit and veggie - transportation issues this summer; carrots are already in short supply in NH, for example. Farms may have issues getting required fertilizer as well, which will impact product.

Birthday month and treats are over for another year. Some treats weren't detailed because I noted getting together with friends and knitting groups instead. These include scented candles, sleepwear, plants ordered for landscaping, food treats. It was a lovely way to celebrate my birthday month!

Birthday month treat day 31: Ordered 2 sage green leather swivel base rocker recliners for the soon-to-be finished TV-living-sewing room. The media shelving and cabinets are complete, now I just need to clean out the excess furniture and switch oriental rugs around. I'm excited to finish a room!

Birthday month treat day 30: I'm just gonna say it: I like fruitcake! Collin Street Bakery makes an Apricot Pecan cake that is almost the best ever. I got one so I can have a slice every afternoon with my tea. It will be so perfect!

Watched the Red Sox - Astros game. Now alternating between the Giants - Padres and Yankees - Mariners. GingerSnap isn't really a baseball fan!

I found the missing cake of gold heather heavy worsted/bulky yarn! It was upstairs, as I thought, but I'd taken it out and put it with the needles I will use to swatch. Also, what was I thinking? I have yarn for 11 - yes, 11 - shawls all caked and ready to use. I must have had grand plans!

If you were a skein of gold heather heavy worsted to bulky weight yarn that I caked up a few months ago to start a sweater, where would you be tonight? So far, not in any knitting bag or basket upstairs, but all the lightweight yarns I caked at the same time are here. It's a mystery!

Watched the Red Sox - Astros game tonight. 7th inning SO says it's time for him to go to his mansuite because the game is no longer interesting. That's fine; I get it. About 10 minutes later I get a text asking the score, and again, until it's over. Then he wants to chat won-lost records.

Birthday month treat day 29: Finally got a pair of plain gold "huggy" hoop earrings for everyday wear. I do love semi-precious stone earrings, but they really aren't totally appropriate for non-work outfits. These should be perfect - polished but not over-the-top.
