One thing I’m learning is that even if I might be a rules guy — here’s hoping — and I’m definitely not an art guy (I withdrew from my one and only college art class when they asked us to draw a tree), being a words guy is tougher than I expected. Honestly, naming my children was a lot easier.

Trying to refine the pitch as of late, how does "A fast tactical conquest game where simple actions grow into asymmetric empires." hit you? I’d like to talk like a normal human, but I also want to try to get as much information into the smallest amount of space as possible!

Lately I’ve been thinking about influences. Every design builds on years of designers wrestling with the same problems. Understanding my influences helps me see what’s been tried, what works, and where there’s space to do something new. Curious how others approach this.
