This is tough…but I guess when it comes down to it, it was Juliet Marillier, who wrote the Sevenwaters series, who inspired me to start writing regular fantasy (instead of the fan fiction I was pretty much mostly writing). I fell in love with her book, Daughter of the Forest, in 11th grade.

I’m not the best at opening lines 😅 but here we go Meira's arm felt heavy as her fingers traced the letters etched into the cold, smooth stone marking her sister, Eirian's, grave.
