A new book by paranormal researcher, Mark Wallbank, about paranormal events and haunted houses in the South Island. You can pick up a copy at the museum for $30. We also have some copies left of Andrew Smith’s book about Haunted Dunedin. We are open this weekend from 10-5 as usual.

The latest addition to the collection is this Yellow Box Fish (Ostraction cubicus). This species belongs to the family Ostraciidae, or boxfishes. They’re found in reefs throughout the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean as well as the south-eastern Atlantic Ocean

I love South African folk art. This model Formula one car made out of coke cans joins a VW Beetle and a plane in the museum’s collection of wire and metal folk art from this region. One object we’re still after is a model AK47 like the one our friend , Garry Hunter, picked up when he was there.
