Happy days, thought I’d list this after the last house move, but just found it in a box of old CD’s! 😀

Some how I’ve ended up with lots of projects in need of paint, rather than just in the pile of shame. Need to finish my robot army, got a mix of necromancy and others. Some toy vehicles with tarps for more terrain features and 3mm sci-fi buildings from Brigade Models.

I have a friend with a 3D printer. They let me have some of the supports normally destined for the bin. I made them into ruined buildings.

Painted these for Christmas presents this year. The minis are from Statuesque Miniatures. I really like them and this was fun to paint something different.

My 3D print comment was aimed at this not quite Necron. I had a number of robot miniatures so decided to repaint them in a similar scheme and use them all in the same army. We also have here an old EM4 robot and AT-43 mini. I think they will blend in well enough.

I'm not sure I like 3D printed miniatures. One fell off the desk and broke into three pieces after hitting floor 60cm below. Yes it allows a sculptor to make dynamic (and thin) miniatures that would have to be multipart in traditional casting. But as a result they lack a robustness I'm used to. 🤔

Made myself some scale agnostic volcano/craters. Found some transparent orange hot glue and couldn’t resist using it for these.

Still working on a sculpted version but decided to repaint my old scratchbuilt maggot monster. The one on the right has been done with Vallejo Xpress Colour paints to give it a more realistic look. Still need to give it a gloss varnish to make it look nice and slimy.

It’s been over 30 years since I painted a battletech mini. Need to get myself some hex bases to finish these heavies.

Tried the tarp effect again. This time on some fuel dumps. The barrels are from plastic beads. Seen here with 6mm forces but would work at other scales.

Sorry I couldn’t resist, got some pumpkin potpourri to make mini pumpkin patches for terrain, but the larger pieces suddenly became…

Thought I would have a go at creating tarp covered stuff like crates. Had some old counting blocks and used a dried out glasses wipe as the cloth. Quite like the result.

It’s been 16 years since I made some alien plants out of pasta, so I thought I’d make a new set. Went with purple for these and added purple tufts. They will work for any scale.

Finished the Star Wars toy as a sci-fi building.

Couple more scratchbuilt industrial buildings. Just made out of various bits destined for the bin.

Decided to paint an old toy as a sci-fi building for my 3mm and 6mm games. I know some of you recognise this, care to admit your age 😉

Started work on a sci-fi hydroponics farm, should work for my 3mm and 6mm games. Just waiting for some plastic easter eggs to arrive that I'm hoping to use as the greenhouse domes.

Right managed to slap a bit of paint on these. I really should have gone for something less detailed to get my painting mojo back. The detail and poses of 3D prints can be a challenge.

why should air, earth, fire and water get all the fun? our concremental shows what the modern urban environment's capable of when summoned into humanoid form and armed with street furniture.

Gave my cheap aquarium plants a light spray of green and red, worked well to tone down the original colour and took the plastic shine off.

The other thing I’m finding with the 3D miniatures is not quite understanding the various materials they are printed with. As I cleaned up the mini’s the material would fracture and I’m left with damage like this on the gun barrel.

I’ve started to paint the 3D printed minis and my initial thoughts are. They are great sculpts but because they are not having to go in a mould, what would normally be filled in areas or undercuts are now full of inaccessible detail.

I've been trying to re-ignite my mojo. Still gaming but haven't picked up a brush in months. I've decided to change the miniatures for my Stargrave crew and have bought my first 3D printed miniatures. They are interesting and I've got quite a few thoughts about them that I'll share as I paint them.

Finally managed to pick up a paint brush. Not exactly going to plan 🤣

I found an old figure in a bag at the back of my mums shed. No idea of the adventure this guys been on, but going to strip and update the 30+ years old paint job! It's an Ral Partha Ettin I must have bought in teh early 1990's.

Been struggling with my hobby mojo lately so what better way of refreshing my enthusiasm than attending a wargame show. I'll be at the Broadside show this Saturday. I've been going to this show since it started, it's grown and got better every year. www.miltonhundred.com/broadside

Here's a picture of my scratchbuilt grav tanks. Did these for my 15mm forces. They are made from clips used for bag straps and a number of other bits and pieces, rawl plugs, zip covers and stuff from the bits box.

Where has the time gone! @brigademodels.co.uk have released more of my 3mm Sci-fi mini's. Been enjoying painting these up all over again. Using different techniques this time, speed/contrast paints weren't a thing first time round.

Friend put a game of Battletech Alpha Strike on at the weekend. Played as the Inner Sphere and taught the Clans a harsh lesson 😎

I’d forgotten I still had these GW catalogue pages. Oh how I wish I had more of these figures. My younger self thought these would be available forever.

Before handing it over to the ‘award’ winning game at Salute. I took a picture of the box golem in a scene.

Well on another crap news day here’s a happy picture of the 1980’s Berzerk Arcade dice tower I made along with the robots and evil Otto miniatures for the game.

Not much of a hoard from Salute but then I was working and didn't have time to do any shopping. But I did get some scenic supplies from @badsquiddogames.bsky.social that I'm going to use for some alien landscaping and a whole stack of bases from @warbases.bsky.social

Shirt still fits and is ready for the Salute wargames show tomorrow 😎

Just found one of my old dioramas. Painted this about 30 years ago, during my D&D days.

I've got to fill loads of gaps in my maggot man sculpt and thought I'd try using the green putty that comes in a tube. Never used this before, anyone got any horror stories, things to avoid?

What a dilemma, just cleaning up some old Citadel Miniatures that I haven’t used in decades. I need to raise some funds for other hobby projects, but now I’m getting nostalgic vibes and not sure I can let them go 🤨

Something different from me, I do get to play games regularly and this time had another Wars of the Roses battle. We use 15mm miniatures and Sword & Spear for the rules.

Cut up a foam yoga block to make some obsidian style rock formations. The foam was black already but sprayed them with black primer and then gave them a gloss varnish to make them shine a bit. Added some dry brushed dust to the bottom and good to go at any scale.

Another 3mm building think there are eight in total coming from Brigade Models. Got another two finished today. Branching out a bit with the colours as well.

I haven’t painted buildings for a long time but these new 3mm ones from Brigade Models look really nice. Here is the first one with a 6mm mech and some of my 3mm forces.

Spotted on Facebook - a very cleverly designed (and huge!) 6mm dropship from Crow Industries. It's only when I saw our vehicles inside that I realised just how big it is.

Just need to pose this strange creature and stick it to the base. I do enjoy these projects. I do like weird 😀

I bit more progress on the box monster. Decided to have the head open to look like a mouth. Currently working on miniature bubble wrap. Also decided the box cardboard was too dark so will go to the lighter shade shown. I'll put more animation in the movement when I stick all the boxes together.
