Today I presented a proclamation recognizing Amplify Austin Day. For 24 hours, our community is working to raise $10M for local nonprofits, including organizations like We Are Blood. After a hard weekend, it’s inspiring to see Austin come together. I live here. I give here.

 The Texas Union is the primary polling site on the undergraduate campus. I’ve sent a letter to President Jim Davis calling for immediate restoration of clear, accessible voting routes there or ADA-compliant alternatives.

Austin is a city that shows up. This weekend, as people respond to ICE, there are many ways to participate. Protest. Strike. Hold vigil. Support organizers. Take care of your community. Our strength has always been in our people and in the many ways we stand together.

Grateful for the chance to speak on a panel at the University of Chicago earlier this month and connect with students about public service, local government, and the future of our cities. These conversations leave me feeling optimistic about the future of our cities.

Today, Council approved a four-year agreement with the Austin Fire Association that locks in four-person staffing, provides competitive pay increases, and improves scheduling. Proud to stand with our firefighters and support public safety.

Our hearts are with the victims of the antisemitic attack at Bondi Beach and with Jewish communities everywhere who are grieving. Hate has no place in our city or our world. We stand with our Jewish neighbors.
