Throughout the month of September we remember and honour our friends and loved ones, all courageous firefighters who have died in the line of duty. Their bravery and sacrifice in protecting people and communities will never be forgotten. 🤍 1/3

We are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of a firefighter working on a fire in Grand Canyon National Park this week. On the heels of Firefighters’ National Memorial Day (September 7), this loss is felt throughout the entire wildland fire community.

⬇️ CIFFC has officially moved from NPL 4 to NPL 3. This change reflect is due to: - Changes in weather pattern; - Large fire activity has decreased significantly. 🔥 Thanks to everyone working hard on the ground and behind the scenes to keep communities safe. 1/3

🔥 This past May, AFAC hosted an inspiring Women-in-Fire Training Exchange (WTREX) in Queensland, Australia. This event brought together fire practitioners, researchers, and leaders from around the world to share knowledge, build skills, and empower women to take on fire management. 👇 1/2

Today, on National Wildland Firefighter Day, we honour the dedication, courage, and sacrifice made by everyday wildland firefighters across Canada and internationally. As fire seasons last longer and become more severe, fire personnel are required to spend more and more time away from home. 1/3

CIFFC is saddened to hear that a firefighter was injured on the fireline this weekend in Manitoba. We want to extend our gratitude to the individual for their hard work and sacrifice, as well as wish them a smooth recovery.
