Everyone has the right to seek asylum from persecution and torture, a right enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Seeking this protection in the United States is legal.

The lessons from history are pretty clear. Any president who tries to subvert democracy and overthrow an election should be put on trial and imprisoned if found guilty.
