Was a teacher, still a cynic.
Itās this kind of attitude that kept Blunt in place. The fear of opening up members of the establishment to the same rigorous legal processes and punishments that the rest of us have to live with. The feeling I get is one of wagons circling.

The question that the (yet another) Mandelson scandal drives back to the front of my mind is this: Why do we have such shit political leaders? I mean, by way of an example, we have 23,000 headteachers in the country. If you picked 650 of them at random youād end up with a better qualityā¦

Iām kinda old fashioned. In the society I prefer Mandelson would be now so toxic that no one would touch him with a bargepole. No cosy directorships, no interviews, no columns. Not a peep should be heard from him in the public space. Sadly I doubt that will happen.

There is a certainty about the Epstein scandal that no one appears to be discussing. Among the obscenely wealthy he serviced a need. I doubt that need has gone away. Someone, somewhere, has replaced him as the provider of the service. No one seems to be trying to find out who.

Either they are indeed the culprits, or they could argue they were not good enough politicians to make the arguments to change their colleagues minds on policy. Either way they need to withdraw to the darkness.

About 6 months ago my mother in law had a mini stroke. Having observed the symptoms and effects close up over that period of time I can say one thing almost for certain. Trump has had a stroke of some kind. The slightly slurring speech, the slight droop of eye and mouth, the favouring of one hand.

Why, generally, do the right favour a ban on social media for under-16s more than the left? My first guess is that the believed it will reduce the calls to further regulate platform content.

Children need to be protected from some content (and capabilities) available on the internet. I remain unconvinced that an under-16s ban is the best way to do this. It is likely that is the solution we will be given. Itās not optimal.

David Attenborough got close to that gorilla, didnāt get his arms pulled off and got the piece to camera he wanted. He didnāt do it by running up to where it sat, waving his arms and shouting at it. This has something to do with current political goings on but Iām not quite sure what.
