Delighted to see the first chapter of my PhD published in the @icesmarine.bsky.social journal of marine science! This paper discusses developing a holistic understanding of the sensitivity of fish species in our seas and offers practical recommendations for enchanced species mgmt & protection. 🦈🐟

This silky shark is using its nictitating membrane, a protective inner eyelid, as it swims up close to the camera. Sharks usually expose this membrane just prior to feeding, or when they encounter another shark, as a way to protect their eyes from potential injury. Filmed by Simon Hilbourne
