Note to any young #journalists out there pitching to a publication: please, please do some quick research to see if the story was already covered by the publication. If you have a new angle, great. But don't pitch the same story published a few weeks ago. This industry relies on solid research.

Every year I think a “best of” style competition is a fun, light hearted idea and every year I’m reminded that people (rightly so) take this very seriously. Ends up just being a TON of work. But if the people love it, we’ll keep doing it. May look at more sponsorship next year though.
