Gamedev, 3D modeling, animation, and whatever else I run into while poking at making a game.
Small
#Godot
improvements to make life better. I use a base scene pattern for things like doors, where each door type can specify which animation track to play on open/close. There's no native export type for selecting an Animation in the AnimationPlayer, so I added a custom EditorProperty.

Making progress on my demo project for a
#blender
to
#godot
workflow. The workflow takes my existing ARPG pipeline, and pulls in a lot of the ideas from Blender Studio's DOGWALK. The end result will be open sourced, including demo godot project, .blend files, and Blender and Godot plugins.

Any of the
#Blender
folks out there know if it's possible to export a bone custom property track to GLTF? I'm trying to mark points in the animation where
#Godot
needs to perform specific actions. I know I can add extra tracks to the animation in Godot, but I'd rather do it all in Blender.

Follow up, I did reset the urge, but figured out why it hasn’t already been done. Blender materials aren’t as performance critical as game shaders. I reimplemented a texture rotation material as a shader in Godot. It’s expensive to recalculate all the rotation and blending each frame.
add a skeleton here at some point

Trying my hardest to not think about making a tool to convert Blender materials into Godot visual shaders. Writing code is my safe space, but I really only need to recreate this one material for now. It’s too easy to get drawn into the technical problems instead of just making the game.

Small tech test for trees. Working on a starting zone to get an idea for how I want things to look & feel. The base of the leaf shader is my occlusion cutout shader:

Tree models are from synty. Not sure if I want texture-based trees, or real geometry.

Worked all the way through Gabriel Aguiar’s VFX for Godot course, only to figure out I didn’t really like that style of VFX for my game. So, just to rule out the idea, I grabbed a 2D animation pack from Duc Vu FX, and did a quick test. Yea, it looks friggin awesome.
