Recommendation: DID YE HEAR MAMMY DIED? (2021), by Séamas O'Reilly (@seamas.bsky.social). Funny, tender, and illuminating in regard to the anguished history of Northern Ireland. Depressingly, O'Reilly's thoughts on living with near-constant violence seem particularly useful in America now. #booksky

Recommendation: AYALA'S ANGEL (1881), one of my favorite Anthony Trollope novels. It's a little sloppy, but that's part of its charm: it's like a funny story about people you know, told by a gifted raconteur with a sharp eye for human folly and a soft heart for human weakness. 1/4 #booksky
