The thing about Gyökeres is it looks like he has decent top speed but relatively poor acceleration.

On the plus side, we made Ekitike, Wirtz, and Salah look meh.

Hate to say it, but Gyokeres does not have the pace or stamina to lead the press. He basically wilted away in the second half. He’s going to be huge for us when we have all the possession, but games like today expose his weaknesses.

Really poor. We showed them way too much respect. That’s on Arteta and this coaching staff. With a squad as big and talented as ours, we should be playing to win this game, not for a draw.

I’m trying very hard not to overreact to preseason friendlies but I must say I’m concerned we don’t look ready for those first six fixtures. Would really like to have seen us build some momentum going into game week one. Not seeing much tactical evolution or team chemistry. Hope it changes soon.

Happy for Granit, especially for escaping Ten Hag, but can’t help feeling a little frustration that he left AFC just as he was starting to gel in the left 8, ostensibly because he / his family wanted to leave England (I believe). If he had stayed that next season, might we have won the league?
