Delighted to see John Swinney and the SNP campaigning on a platform of independence once again. Poll after poll show that Scots have had enough of getting a raw deal from the UK and want to build a better future. As John says, the future is ours to win.

Disappointing end to the assisted dying bill in the Scottish Parliament last night the result of which will prolong the suffering for many. I expected better from the government of a progressive country such as Scotland. My life, my body, my decision.

I wholeheartedly agree but what next? In the unlikely event of a snap UK election the SNP are currently too weak to win it in Scotland and unlikely to declare a defacto referendum. Reform UK sweep to power and we find ourselves in a worse place than we are now.

This annoys me. Not the fact that Starmer has said no, that's of zero interest to me, but the idea that he should be involved in the process at all. Writing to him and acknowledging the UK government lends legitimacy to their premise that it's their decision. It's not. It's ours and ours alone.

You miss a fundamental fact in your post. Scotland would not be leaving the UK, it would be ending the UK. Independence requires the Treaty of Union to be revoked. When that happens, the entity known as the UK is dissolved. No Kingdoms United, No Union Jack and that's a fact.

Everything will be perfect...

1. Scotland will become an independent country if and when its people choose. 2. If a referendum forms part of that process, it will be for the Scottish people to decide. 3. Keir Starmer thoughts or comments are irrelevant

If England is so wealthy, why cling to Scotland? Why make it so difficult to leave an 'equal' union? Why are English MPs not demanding they dissolve the union?.. ..because it's not Scotland that's too poor, to be independent..it's England. The union is used to divert Scotland's wealth to London.

I would argue that he is worse. Whilst we expect right wing politics from the Tories, more of the same from the leader of a party that is meant to uphold socialist values is beyond dire. I genuinely pity English voters. Reform, Tory and Labour are all indistinguishable.
