Flashback to when I took a crack at redesigning Godzilla. I’m thinking about doing it again in the not too distant future. And this time it won’t just be the king.

I’m thinking this morning about how in another reality, Alien vs Predator might have kicked off a Godzilla scenario where the Alien (or Predator) duked it out each new entry with a different alien creature, either original or from another IP.

I remember being ten years old and reading in my local library about how Jack the Ripper cut women’s bodies to pieces and took the parts home to eat. The book I read that in was written for kids. This here’s Nazi horseshit.

Okay. All right. These guys have to know how this comes off at this point. I can only assume anymore that this is, foremost, a demonstration of deep contempt for visual artists. Not apathy. Contempt.

Made a color version of an old black and white D&D fan art piece of mine. I’ve been practicing with getting a quick map of color for grayscale that doesn’t feel like crude washing. I think coupling a basic color wash with a value color map gets most of it.

A little before Monster Hunter Wilds released last year, I was doing some doodles for an entry idea I had which I called Monster Hunter Tides. It had a Polynesian island flavor to it and would’ve had an emphasis on water-to-beach combat.

Just a little more Month of Monsters for now. I’m gonna be doing some experimenting to get a level up in before Month of Monsters 6 in October. That will include more time, careful planning, and use of reference for lighting.

It’s rising again this April!

Another from the archive: My first project I contributed to out of college was the tabletop RPG “GODS”, on which Bastien Lecouffe Deharme (my illustration teacher in college) was my art director. These were some early colored pencil pieces before I switched to graphite.

Looking through the archive: I found this one from I think 2014, for an idea of a Critters remake. I think for my tastes now, this maybe is a bit of a departure from the source material.
