I was busy painting when Russell called me to photograph a mischief of magpies on our neighbours’ roof. Now I’m back painting.

The deed is done. I have submitted my three paintings to the Great Bardfield Art Show. Unfortunately, I had to add string to my curved painting because the hooks wouldn’t fit in the right place on their display board.

In the following pages, I have woven together my trauma and my humor. These stories include experiences my friends may recall, as well as those that have remained unspoken until now. Readers should be prepared for a journey filled with both laughter and emotional challenges.

This roe deer stepped out in front of me this morning while out walking

There are two spiders I adore. The crab spider is one of them. Harmless to humans, but these amazing spiders can change colour (white, yellow, green) to match their environment.

This morning I saw a ghost. A flash of white caught my eye. A barn owl flew into an ancient oak tree. I managed to film it. Look closely.

A short walk of 11k steps this morning. Sunburst through the tree, sunlight shining off the road, house among the trees and dog violet.

Today Russell and I drove to Stansted Mountfitchet and on the way home we stopped at the windmill. On climbing out of the car, I was shocked to see a familiar doorway in the mill and recalled a photograph taken in 1966 that shows my father and us by the doorway. I’m standing to my father’s left.

Take a walk to hear the bird song.

Hey, did you know there are such things as decorative toilet bolt covers? I like the idea of poison toadstools growing in the bathroom. It might come in handy if you want to add them to a beef wellington for a dinner party for the in-laws. 🤭😉🤣Just another way of screwing more money out of us. 🤭

At last, Ana, my walking friend has returned! This morning, we took a short walk while sharing our news. Mild weather this morning made it feel more like a springtime rather than a winter’s day. Even the daffodils are confused as they are poking their heads above ground.

At my age, any compliment is appreciated. Much better than being invisible. A gentleman, working in Specsaver walks passed me then came back to tell me how much he liked my boots 🥾 He made my day. 😀❤️😀

Had a wonderful afternoon with my son and daughter in law. As you can see we were having an engaging conversation 😂🤣😂 Honestly, chatting over the phone is better than talking in person. 😉

The reason I started working in my garden two months ago was that I needed an outlet for my anger and frustration. Every day, I'm becoming calmer but I'm not quite there yet. Keep smiling everyone 😂 P.S. a freshly dug garden makes it easier to hide the bodies.

To some the view from my home isn't paradise, no rolling countryside or crashing shoreline but it’s a kind of paradise. A quiet street full of kind neighbours, always there for you. The stretch of greenery allows us to watch the changing seasons. Good neighbours are priceless. Thank you.
