Hurricane Melissa's central pressure dropped to 892 mb today, tying the Labor Day storm of 1935 for the 3rd lowest pressure on record in the Atlantic basin. Sustained winds peaked at 185 mph. The only Atlantic hurricane on record with higher winds was Allen in 1980 at 190 mph.

Lots of rain the Valley this past week, but we're still over an inch below normal so far this monsoon in Phoenix. We have until the end of Sept to get rain in the gauges. As of now, the only monsoons drier than this in the past 15 years are 2019 and 2023 in terms of total rainfall at Sky Harbor.
