Hurricane Melissa's central pressure dropped to 892 mb today, tying the Labor Day storm of 1935 for the 3rd lowest pressure on record in the Atlantic basin. Sustained winds peaked at 185 mph. The only Atlantic hurricane on record with higher winds was Allen in 1980 at 190 mph.
