you can love a character and still admit when they're wrong. we love Shadow but we can acknowledge his flaws (he has none) and we can hold him accountable for his wrongdoings (he has never done anything wrong in his life) and call him out on his actions (which are always correct)

You can’t say you’re tired of formulaic mainstream stories and then snub indie creators. The thing you’re looking for exists you just don’t want to find it unless it comes prepackaged with a corporate stamp of approval.

There are people who will keep you tethered through a fear of being disliked because they know if you're continually seeking their approval that they have power over you. Rejecting them pre-emptively really tips the scales and you'll quickly see how much they cannot handle it.

The reason I can tell misogyny is a problem in particular is because I have actually made very scathing critiques of women before, especially ones in my personal life, and that's all fine and dandy.

Some people like to weaponise the language of "accountability" and "constructive criticism" when what they really mean is "submit to me and my authority" and when you naturally assert your autonomous viewpoint you will be pathologised and sometimes excommunicated.

I've always struggled to write softboys and I'm realising that my type is actually assholes on a spectrum of redeemable to unrepentant and it's because I like men who have spines and can actually stand up for themselves. Passive, conflict avoidant men (and people in general) give me the ick.

There's something to be said about having peaceful surroundings to feel at peace and I've definitely been feeling less on edge since I stopped hanging around with miserable people. 😌

Hot take but I think it's ok for people to seek validation online. It's ok for people to take selfies. It's ok for people to talk about fears. It's ok for people to share their achievements. People aren't attention seeking, they are being vulnerable and self loving. We need self love & community.
