Today is northern winter solstice on Mars, i.e. solar longitude 270°. The sky appears to be a bit more opaque during this season with the sun lowest at the horizon, compared to the day of highest sun elevation on the summer solstice, 321 sols earlier at 90° solar longitude.

As planetary temperature is a topic on Earth Day, here two exemplary daily ground surface temperature graphs measured by the IR remote sensor on Mars Perseverance Rover at 18ºN: +20ºC during summer noon and -5ºC during winter. During the night it cools down to the temperature of dry ice.

The Artemis 2 solar eclipse photo is spectacular on its own, but it's not a total solar eclipse in the direct sense, not matching it perfectly like an eclipse is commonly expected to appear. Only during Gemini XII in 1966, a perfect eclipse was seen in space ever, by Buzz Aldrin and Jim Lovell.
