Art!! Went to the San Diego Museum of Art and spent the day painting peeping (it’s not the same as leaf peeping, but I do like the word peeping, so I’m gonna try to make it happen). Some of my highlights.

Finn is such a different puppy than Oliver, but sometimes they’re exactly the same! How we all feel about working out (naps are better)

The hottest club in town is #bookstoreromanceday and it was worth the wait! (Check out that line!) @heartboundbookshop is always a blast, and they made the day fun! I got new books, met some awesome people, and acquired a new tote (I may now have more totes than things to put in them, publishing!)

Finn is a bed dog now!! And I have photographic evidence that Finn and Oliver like each other, even if they try to deny it, because look at this cuddling!

Had so much fun at trivia night at @heartboundbookshop 😃 There were laughs, there was romance (on the page), and there were no assholes found during the AITA round (iykyk). Thank you so much for celebrating The Road to Gretna with me, and I hope it’s half as fun as romance trivia was ❤️

Went to a Temecula winery and a speakeasy that looked like a ships interior this past weekend, and it was very fun! Give me all the wineries and themed restaurants!

THE PUPS ARE SNUGGING!! It’s the most awkward snuggling ever and only lasted a few seconds, but it’s still magical.

Things bulldogs hate: baths, walking, posing for pictures. Things bulldogs love: giving side eye, drive-thrus, begging for food, sniffing treats at the store and snuggling.

First beach day of the year!! Had to bring The Road to Gretna with me, as they do dress up in regency swimwear at one point, and I feel like that’s enough to qualify it as a beach read! Also the celebrated return of swim poncho, which I love dearly.

Being a writer sometimes means reading some woman’s thesis from 2011 on a Friday night to help me write my time travel romance. AI will never recreate the joy of doing research and finding the perfect plot point for my novel. So if you use AI, I feel bad for you, because you’re missing the good

Some fun bookish legos! I got the Sherlock Holmes book nook and the Jane Austen tribute which was a gift with purchase. Lego has been targeting the bookish lately and I love it! 😍

Visited Rancho Penasquitos Adobe! It’s the 2nd oldest structure in SD county, built in 1823. The Kumeyaay lived in the canyon for over 12,000 yrs, using the same spring that was later enclosed in the spring house. There are also adorable farm animals, one who looks like my bulldogs (it’s the pig).

I used to run with a pretty tough gang when I was younger. The Gang:

Went hiking in Torrey Pines natural reserve! Saw the world’s rarest pine, a bunch of blooming cactus, fossils, and a peregrine falcon!

Finn’s settling in more and more, and Oliver is developing real big brother vibes, always judging the new pup.

Putting the new pup right to work as my writing assistant!! He’s following his big brother’s example, and if he keeps this up, he’ll be employee of the month soon!

The puppers are starting to get along 🥹 they still want space sometimes and think we need a bigger couch, but they’re starting to learn to work together against us to get what they want lol (And yes, Finn was using Oliver’s harness for a while, but his own has come now!)

ISLANDERS! A new BOMBSHELL has entered the villa! His name is Finneas Bo-binneas (redacted)-Bibra. He’s all jowls and tongue and we love him already. We’ve been wanting a 2nd bulldog for a while, and we’re so excited to have found Finn! Here’s to twice the amount of slobber, farts, and bulldog sass

Marston House win San Diego! Built in 1904 for department store owner George Marston. It’s done in the arts and crafts style, and is beautiful, with an excellent library, and some very pretty flowers (that I did take a flower selfie with).

Oliver took me to get cider at Newtopia Cyder and dinner at Lazy Dog for Mother’s Day. He got attention at Newtopia and food at Lazy Dog, so I’m not sure his intentions were entirely altruistic, but we had a fun day anyway.

Back to visiting historic sites! Visited Rancho Guajome Adobe, which is a San Diego county park! It was built in the 1850s by a Tennessean army officer stationed in San Diego, who got the land when he married a Spanish-Peruvian woman whose family helped develop San Diego.
