Currently theorycrafting a Cube for MTG. Never did one before and it seems like a fun challenge to create a personalized Limited environment.

Hosted another MTG night. 6 players, two main games and one smaller game. The first games were split, so two pods of 3. The pod I was in consisted of Chatterfang, Tor Wauki the Younger (me), and Cloud, Midgar Mercenary. I was running a PDH deck and I was mana flooded.

Reviewing my various EDH and PDH decks and debating if I should cut out mana rocks for lands. It is a weird dilemma since having the mana rocks is good for increasing mana sources but at the same time, I can probably just make them lands to ensure I can play the spells I actually want to cast.

- Going through some MTG bulk to cherry pick some commons for later (maybe) - Find some uncommon creatures that could be fun to build around in the process. I don't NEED more PDH decks but they are fun to build.

- Play EDH, five person pod - Try to keep things fairly casual - Most of my opponents are playing decks that easily shut down everyone else and/or run very well. Alright, next time: I'm running my decks with more interaction. Might even tweak my blink deck to run more removal.

- Invite a few people over for some EDH. - 1 confirm, 1 maybe, 1 ghost - Invite a few more people, just in case. - The 1 maybe implies he'll be there, the other 3 express interest. - One of the new invites has a +1 - May end up with more people than I have room for.

Had another D&D session last night. I am getting tired of my dice rolls being consistently low, but I like to think of that as a problem with using a d20 system than an actual problem with the dice.

Been working on a new illustration, potentially to be in a local art show. The show requires a water-based medium to be used so I'm going to be using watercolors for the first time since I was in college. So...15 years. I'm nervous and excited.

I didn't think I'd be buying any Secret Lairs after they changed up the purchasing process, but fortunately I was able to snag a @unitb378.bsky.social set. Always loved their artwork; happy to add their cards to my collection.

I wasn't really looking to make/buy any more Commander decks (except for Pauper Commander), but this dude looks fun. It's in one of my favorite 3-color combos, and allows me to make numbers bigger. I also want more opportunities to make Jeskai Infect a thing.

Saw Superman. It met my expectations! Most people say how colorful and cheerful it is, but I like how it "weird" it was. Like pocket universes with rivers leading to a black hole? Totally normal. No one bats an eye. It was pulpy and silly in a way that makes sense only in comics. Refreshing

"The Pit II" Photoshop, 2019 Back when Mortal Kombat 11 was being hyped up for release, I tried my best to get called out in the "Kollective." I made this animation, emulating a Neo Geo Pocket Color style. Also, I had to show Sub-Zero beating Scorpion. Sub is always losing.

"Supernatural Shaman" Photoshop, 2021 (16"x20") A revised illustration I originally worked on in 2019. It was a birthday gift to my grandpa. He's a big Santana fan. The background has smaller references to things he enjoys, and was meant to replicate the art of Rudy Gutierrez.

"Witchy Vibes 1996" Photoshop, 2021 (10"x10") Made a #portrait for my girlfriend, taking inspiration from the Sailor Moon anime. This is technically a remake as I had made one like this the year before but I wasn't happy with the result. I still consider this one of my best portraits.

"Chippusu Jin Firaga" 2022 (11"x17") An #illustration of an original character for a friend that was based entirely off of his media interests. This one took a few forms before settling on the final design. Can you spot all the references?

"Self Portrait 2022" Photoshop, 2022 (12"x12") Oh hey, it's my current #profilepicture but without the circle frame. This is a redo of a #portrait I did in 2018, applying what I learned from the #art made along the way. Might be time to make a new one. New color palette, new reference.

"Sonic Scream" 2023, 8"x10" Had the idea of mixing the iconic, original #SonictheHedgehog movie design with the famous Scream painting by Munch back in 2019. Got around to making it years later, long after the design was scrapped. RIP original movie Sonic (2019 - 2019)

"Mimir's Counsel circa 3729 CE" (2024, 11"x17") Made this #illustration due to my own dissatisfaction with a previous commission (the client liked it but I felt like I missed the mark). The story is a techno-retelling of Norse mythology. I consider this among my best works so far. #art #digitalart

I have been playing both Final Fantasy XII and FFXIII over the past couple of weeks. This is my first playthrough of both games, with roughly four hours into 12 and twelve hours into 13. I'll share my early impressions of both games.

3 hours into FF13. Early impressions: not a fan of paradigms or the crystarium (?). Both mechanics feel like worse versions of previous mechanics. Just now at a point where there's a story objective. Vanielle and Hope annoy me, so of course they're friends. Might be my least favorite FF yet.

I have selected two new prisons: Final Fantasy XII and XIII. I never played either game before, and I have been on an FF kick most of the year so far. Figured it was time to give these games a shot. I am fully expecting FF13 not to run well on PC. Guess I'll find out tonight.

Beat Final Fantasy XV. I am now free from this prison, and able to go into another one. (FF15 isn't bad. It isn't particularly good either. Very much an OK game that I wish were better in almost every aspect).

New campaign at the LGS started this month. I was in the session this past Sunday. We started at level 1. We were all informed that this would be a pirate-themed adventure until level 13 or so. Then we'd be going into space. Not really sold on the space stuff yet. May need to make a new character.

Solution: ignore color entirely, embrace colorless. Walker of the Wastes. Big dude, has trample, gets bigger as the game goes on. Plenty of colorless ramp options. Having more basic Wastes in play matters, but not as much as with Tunneling Geopede or Embodiment of Fury.

Looking at various cards, I am building a Mono-B PDH deck that focuses on enchantments, based around Blightcaster. I originally intended it to be a Black Waltz No. 3 deck but I didn't find enough R enchantments that did what I wanted them to do.

Ran another session of D&D over the weekend. IMO, it was one of my favorite sessions ever. While the content wasn't anything remarkable, it introduced some drama and now the party has new problems to deal with.

How I'm feeling playing Final Fantasy XV:

Something sucks about the current age of the internet: it feels absurdly difficult to find reference images that aren't AI generated. I'm on the hunt for human-made stock images/photos. Mostly in need of images of people. Action poses, sitting at desks, etc.

I plan on building a few more MTG decks. What I'm currently brewing: - BR Black Mages (Standard/Pioneer) - UR Shuffle (Legacy?) - UR Lifegain (EDH) I have a few other ideas but nothing really solidified yet. Allow me to go into some details.

2 hours into this playthrough of Final Fantasy XV. I already have some thoughts.

Picked up Final Fantasy XV on the PS Store since it was on sale. Going to give this game another shot. Played it shortly after it was released for about an hour and didn't care for it. Going to power through to see what the hype was about.

Oh hey, most posting about #FinalFantasy thoughts and not posting art. lol I told a buddy of mine a few weeks ago that FF16 was in my top 5 FF games. I didn't elaborate on it much during that conversation, but I figure now is a decent time to establish what my top 5 FF games are.

Played a few games of MTG last night. Casual Modern stuff. Time to talk about the games.

Picked up Final Fantasy 6 again after starting it back in March. I had originally stopped since I didn't like how friggin' long Sabin's scenario was compared to the others. I have just now finished the infamous Opera House section and now have the airship. I am not understanding the hype after 8hrs

I am hosting MTG at my house tomorrow. We are all playing 60-card decks, basically "Modern legal" decks. Should be fun. We usually play free-for-all so all of us can play at the same time. I am reviewing one deck in particular, my BR Forced Combat deck, and realizing it doesn't quite work.
