A primer on qualified immunity: 1) it’s a defense against civil suits (not criminal charges); 2) it doesn’t apply if the officer violates a clearly established law (like shooting a citizen in the head); 3) it’s a federal doctrine (i.e., it applies to federal law), but states can still charge.

There is no such thing as “absolute immunity” for federal agents. JD’s law degree clearly isn’t serving him. The guy is a liar—and frankly, quite weird.

Bombing another country’s port without congressional approval is a crime. It’s also wildly stupid—the American people don’t want another forever war. As a senator, I’d support a war powers resolution reigning in Trump’s war on Venezuela.

Rhode Island Energy is looking to increase your electric bill by 5% and your gas bill by 21% in 2026. My publicly owned utilities plan would take the profit motive out of our grid—i.e., you’d save hundreds of dollars a year and have more say over the type of energy we use (wind, solar, etc.).

Help change Rhode Island politics and remake the Democratic Party in the image of the working class.

For real, can anyone seriously tell me that Trump is in better shape cognitively than Biden was when he dropped out? Both men are/were too old to effectively govern this country. We cannot be afraid to insist on a level of cognitive wherewithal in our most important political positions.

Economic inequality is at the root of our problems. Any Democratic who does not have a plan to radically tax the rich and improve the lives of working class Americans must step aside—there’s no room for oligarchs and sycophants in our party.

Teachers are more important to the health of our country than every single billionaire. My Equal Education Amendment would guarantee a quality public education to every American child and ensure teachers a high quality of life for the vital work they do.

Who made this year’s political naughty list?

Democrats caved on the NDAA and through our LGBTQ service members under the bus. I would have voted with Sen. Sanders against this horrible bill.
