The story of professional basketball in Oklahoma City can’t be told without Chris Paul. From his Rookie of the Year for the OKC Hornets in 05/06 to returning 14 years later & the magical 19/20 Thunder season. An all-time great. Thank you, CP. A legend in this city forever.

I’m so happy Mark chose to play Jared McCain & Isaiah Joe together right off the bat instead of staggering them to have just one shooter on the court. Continue to laugh at how much space is on the floor on the offensive end with those 2.

One thing I'm keeping my eye on is OKC putting cheap ball handlers around Shai, Dub, & Chet after this year. Having Ajay, McCain (flyer), and Topic (hypothetical until we see him) around those 3 + others at a combined 12.6M next year & 17M the year after. feels relevant. Cap % is just 7.7% & 9.8%.

In a pre-draft podcast in '24 I said how Jared McCain was one of my favorite prospects that I would have loved the Thunder to take at 12. This year hasn't been easy for him returning from injury, but I still really like him as a prospect. Can't believe this. Such a Thunder trade too.

I don’t mean to be hyperbolic but it may very well never get better than *this* era of Thunder basketball. Enjoy it. Appreciate it. Once in a lifetime stuff.

I know people have been critical of Isaiah Joe in the postseason, but I think the quicker & more compact jumper will pay dividends in the postseason when it comes to those mid-late closeouts. He’s getting up almost 15 attempts (!!) per 75 possessions so far this season.

Nikola Topic’s testicular cancer diagnosis was a fear of mine — especially with it being on the rise in young adults. Tope worked hard to get back after missing that first season & he’s so young, man. It’s really not fair. Sending him love & wishing him the best both mentally & physically.

Caruso “Nash” dribbles & hits the nice pass to Lu Dort on the “45” cut. His playmaking is an under-appreciated part of his game. It helps in games like last night where you’re missing Chet & the opponents go zone. AC is one of the few guys on the team who can operate out of the middle of the floor.

Now that it’s official: Shai is truly one of the coolest player development stories in recent memory. What a story & what a path. We all should feel very fortunate to have had a front row seat to his development all these years. We often underestimate the process & overvalue the result.

I’m a bit in disbelief of how they’ve opened up so far.

Grade 2 hamstring strain sustained TWO DAYS AGO. This is unbelievable & not safe. It’s the org’s job to protect the player from themselves.

I think it’s been a rough series for Mark Daigneault, but man, some of the takes are a bit too far for my taste.

Alex Caruso is truly one of the smartest defenders I’ve watched. Patient, methodical, & rarely ever off on timing. What a play, what a player.
