Had to take advantage of the 50% off sale of Criterion videos at Barnes and Nobles. Two of my favorite films in Repo Man and The Seven Samurai!

Terrible experience at Seeing Double in North Olmsted. Ordered a 2nd of the same drink and it came out different. When we asked them to fix it we were told policy is to charge us for a new drink. We complained more and they “fixed” it (no they didn’t). Never going back!

Went for a walk in our hood. On the plus side we saw 3 rabbits! On the negative side there was zero breeze and it was hot! We thought about having a fire tonight but not with this heat and poor air quality.

And it is raining. Again. This is getting a bit ridiculous.

I had my Summer Salads cooking program last night. I made three recipes and gave out samples. The crowd was great and we had a lot of laughs while they enjoyed the food! I even started getting some regulars to my cooking programs who told me how much they like them. #LibraryLife

I taught my first class on how to use the laser engraver in our innovation center today. Surprisingly I think it went really well. Things sure have changed in the library since I started way back when. #LibrarianLife #SaturdayLibrarian

I've had it with all this rain. We keep getting hit with wave after wave of rain. We never had a decent Spring. It either rained or was unseasonably cold. I hope the Summer is better.

This morning I finished Stone & Sky by Ben Aaronovitch. I have been a big fan of the Rivers of London series from the first book. This is book 10 so don't jump in here but I highly recommend this series that blends #Fantasy & #PoliceProcedurals!

My #FridayReads is the graphic novel Never Been Deader: Lifeless Carl and the Not-So-Sweet Embrace of Death by Tommy Devoid. Poor Carl discovers he is dead one morning and has to learn how to navigate the afterlife. Including still having to go to work and get stuck in traffic.

I needed something to stop me from doom scrolling and The Society of Unknowable Objects by Gareth Brown hit the spot. A secret society. Magical objects. A strong, relatable main character in Magda. And just plain fun. Plus an ending leaving open the possibility of a sequel!

My #FridayReads is Why I Love Horror: Essays on Horror Literature edited by Becky Spratford. I only read the first few essays so far but it is fascinating to read the different ways the authors got into horror. And it is great to see I am not alone in my love of horror!

Yesterday I finished WITCHCRAFT FOR WAYWARD GIRLS by Grady Hendrix. Our book group is discussing it tomorrow afternoon. I loved the book and can't wait to see what the rest of the group thinks! It brought up so many things to talk about. It should be fun!

THIEF OF NIGHT by Holly Black was my surprise #bookmail today! It also came with a tote bag and the 1st book in this duology Book of Night in case I missed it when it came out a few years ago! #ewgc

BREADCRUMBS: COMING OF AGE IN POST-SOVIET POLAND by Kasia Babis is a graphic novel that does a great job of showing how Kasia and her friends lives changed while Poland as a country changed. Expect this memoir to make a lot of best of the year lists. #ewgc

Did anyone else download A CURSED COLLECTION OF HAUNTED DOLLS: FROM REAL LIFE TO LITERATURE AND MOVIES by Fiona Dodwell. I loved the disclaimer that they used drawings of the dolls to avoid any bad things happening from looking at photographs of them. #ewgc

And in my sorrow to see this is the last book in the series I messed up the second part of the title. It should be HOTEL UKRAINE: THE FINAL ARKADY RENKO NOVEL. Sigh... #ewgc

I downloaded today HOTEL UKRAINE: THE LAST ARKADY RENKO NOVEL by Martin Cruz Smith. I have not read all of the books in this series but have enjoyed the ones I did read and will be sad if this series really is ending. #ewgc

I started KING SORROW by Joe Hill. I'm not that far in but already can feel the creep factor starting up! I can tell already the long wait for another full length novel from him was worth it! #ewgc

I absolutely loved BRIGANDS & BREADKNIVES by Travis Baldree! It was so much fun exploring more of this world! This is the perfect comfort read during these crazy times. #ewgc
