Having spent close to 40 hours of driving in California highways in the last week, I think I might run for governor just so I can pass a law requiring farms to put up signs next to their fields indicating what they’re growing.

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.

The Dragon, Joshua Tree Some of my favorite moments are the dead silence of the desert in the middle of a summer night when the temperature is still 80°F. This shot was taken on one of those nights.

“A galaxy away” If you look closely you can see a small smudge in the sky. That’s the Andromeda galaxy, 2.5 million light years away!

Friday night with Underworld I’ve been listening to Underworld for decades and always see them when they come to town. Every single show has been amazing!

On a @scalzi.com binge. I started “Old Man’s War” while on vacation, finished it on the plane ride home, but realized I had failed to buy the second book. But I did have “When the Moon Hits Your Eye”, so I spent the flight and the next two days laughing.
