A single line does not define poverty; it is a complex phenomenon shaped by systemic factors. Current systemic structures keep people in poverty. To address them, we need better policies and solutions, such as higher minimum wages, affordable housing and access to health care and education.

March 15 marks the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, a day established to bring awareness to anti-Muslim prejudice. This year, the day comes as the United States is seeing a resurgence in anti-Muslim fearmongering.
