I decided to RMA the card. Even after moving everything over to UEFI and enabling ReBAR, the card is still doing nothing but spinning its fans at 100%. Tried CMOS reset, different PCIe slots, but no dice.

Bought an Intel A380 to add HW encoding to my NAS with a quick plug-and-play upgrade. Turns out it needs Resizable BAR Turns out that needs CSM disabled and UEFI boot Turns out my NAS is still booting from a MBR partition God dammit, looks like a have a project for Sunday now :/

Just watched the first episode of Witch Hat Atelier and ngl, the way Coco was excited about figuring out magic for the first time kind of reminded me of writing code for the first time.

I figured out a way to make the ASCII Grabpass effect _somewhat_ work in VR and then added a little "photo box" area to the world for people to take photos in. I don't think this comes across well in a video, but the effect looks pretty wild in VR :D

Was this result really worth it? I'm not sure 😅

Point Light Volumes are cool

Looks like I massively misdiagnosed the problem here. Switching to DoT did improve things because it uses a stable TCP connection instead of UDP, but the actual problem was massive packet loss caused by an Energy-Efficient Ethernet setting on my router. Disabled it and everything is super smooth now

I think I experienced the modern equivalent of the "two people grabbing something and their hands touch" trope yesterday. I stood on a crowded train, used my phone and suddenly it did the NameDrop thing with the guy standing in front of me, so I crossed eyes with him and awkwardly said "haha, sorry"

I switched ISPs on Wednesday and while I'm very happy with the latency and bandwidth, I noticed that websites would often take forever to even start loading. Long story short, it seems like they're massively fucking with DNS traffic for some reason and switching to DoT fixes the problem.

I went back to the original video and noticed that I made a mistake in my shader. The inner circle should be the fastest, while the outer ones get slower, but on mine it's the other way round, with the innermost one being the slowest. I guess I can call it an artistic reinterpretation :D

Why are all the AI features in messaging apps always completely useless nonsense like "write my message for me" and not something that would actually be somewhat useful like "automatically transcribe voice messages". I found some motivation to work on my asteroid world (Club Bennu) again. Remade basically every single material with a different shader to be able to add Light Volume support and also improved the lighting in some other ways. Pretty happy with how this turned out.

I tried to create this effect in poiyomi where Emission Blinking and Center Out lined up. The problem is that "Blink Velocity" and "Center out Flow Speed" are on different timescales. Looking at the shader I found the formula: For speed x put "pi*x" in the blink velocity and "10*x" in the flow speed
