Jim Nill also mentioned that Jamie Benn will remain captain if he returns to Dallas next season. Nill has 3-4 players he has been thinking about as the next captain, but wouldn't share names. I imagine Johnston, Rantanen, and Heiskanen are among those. Maybe Robertson, too.

No Dallas players are expected to play at the World Championships. Nill said 4 or 5 had a chance but declined. Said they need time to recover from a laundry list of injuries.

Not sure the details of Nils Lundkvist's injury, but the cut itself looked pretty small and closer to his ear than eye -- more heel than blade contact. He said they are still figuring some stuff out, so there is something other than just the cut that kept him out of the lineup.

Mavrik Bourque said he wants nothing but to be a Dallas Star next year. Felt he finally took the big step the team wanted to see six years after drafting him. But he’s still confident he has more offense to give.

Nate Bastian said he was available for Game 6. He broke his hand and had a screw put in. Recovered faster than he thought. Bastian said he had nothing bad to say about this team or his experience. Absolutely wants to be back next year.

Roope Hintz tore his hamstring from two different spots. Then had the setback in recovery. Said he might have been ready by Game 2 or 3 of the second round.

Jamie Benn said he will take some time to relax and be a Dad before making any decisions on his future.

A combination of Rantanen being in the middle of the ice, not on the wall for the breakout, and Duchene throwing a blind pass to that spot. That's a tough one after finally having some momentum.

Nils Lundkvist did not have to go to the hospital last night after the facial laceration, but Glen Gulutzan did not have any further update on him today. Expecting to get a further update on Lundkvist and Roope Hintz at practice tomorrow.

Glen Gulutzan told reporters in Minny that he highly doubts Roope Hintz will be ready for Game 5. However, Hintz did finally start skating on his own yesterday for the first time since his setback.
