Infection and immunity are shaped as much by systems as by science. Surveillance, data sharing, regulation, and governance all influence how infectious threats are detected and contained. At MI4, research intersects with policy to help inform decisions before, during, and after outbreaks.

Why do the same infections affect people so differently? Our genes play a role, shaping immune responses and, in some cases, contributing to autoimmune disease. By connecting the two areas, MI4 brings researchers together to better understand how infection and immunity shape long-term health.
