According to MedPAC, details of the Part D redesign mean that some enrollees will hit their $2,000 OOP maximum much faster than I realized. In one example, they show how one could hit the max with just $470 in spending.

Health care providers are increasingly seeking upfront payments as payment rates from patients decline. I'd guess that new medical debt policies will accelerate those existing trends (if the policy remains in place).
